Doesn't Stripe already retry failed payments?
It does, and you should keep it on. Stripe's Smart Retries choose when to retry and don't retry hard declines such as a lost or stolen card, and Stripe can email customers when a payment fails and a month before their card expires. RecoupMRR will work alongside those features rather than replace them. It adds follow-up emails that differ by decline reason, more than one step when the customer needs to act, and a report of which recoveries came after a customer clicked a RecoupMRR email.
What access does RecoupMRR need?
A read-only Stripe restricted API key that you create. It reads Customers, Invoices, Subscriptions, Charges, Payment Intents, Payment Methods, and Events, and every write permission stays at None. So the key itself can't charge cards, create invoices, issue refunds, send payouts, or change your prices and subscriptions. Our emails will link to Stripe's hosted invoice page for payment and to your own Stripe customer portal login link for card updates, so no write access is needed. You can revoke the key in Stripe at any time.
How will my key be stored?
It will be encrypted at rest and never written to logs. Full card numbers never reach us — Stripe doesn't share them through the API.
Who is it for?
Subscription businesses billing directly through Stripe — indie SaaS, memberships, and online courses — doing roughly $5K–$50K in monthly revenue.
When can I use it?
RecoupMRR isn't live yet. We'll open early access in small batches. Join the waitlist and you'll get a free loss diagnosis of your Stripe account first.
